Scotland-based online casino games developer Incentive Games has secured a gaming license from Canadian gambling regulator the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). The license means Incentive Games can offer its portfolio of games to operators across online casinos in Ontario.
The content will be made available through Incentive Studios, its real-money online casino division.
“Ontario represents a huge opportunity for us, and securing this license is a proud moment for the whole team,” said John Gordon, CEO at Incentive Games. “It reinforces our dedication to meeting the highest standards while delivering compelling real-money content. We're looking forward to building strong relationships in the region and continuing our momentum across regulated markets worldwide.”
The AGCO oversees the first commercially competitive Canadian online casino and sports betting markets, attracting considerable interest from gaming companies worldwide. According to Incentive Games, their entry into Ontario fits with their strategic goals to expand into new markets, with a focus on tailoring their products to local players.
Incentive games secure Michigan license
Incentive Games' expansion into Ontario comes weeks after the developer secured another license to supply its gaming titles in the Michigan online casino market. Michigan’s gambling regulator, the Michigan Gambling Control Board (MGCB), granted the license in July, paving the way for Incentive Game’s first entry into North America.
“Securing our Michigan licence marks an exciting new chapter for Incentive Games. It’s a testament to our unwavering commitment to meeting the highest regulatory standards and unlocks a significant opportunity for us in a critical North American growth market. This will allow Incentive Games to forge new partnerships and bring our highly engaging Real-Money Games directly to players in Michigan,” said Ahmed Baker, CCO at Incentive Games.
Ontario iGaming market generates $82.7 billion in annual wagers
As evidence of Ontario’s iGaming strength, its regulated market generated $3.2 billion in gaming revenue in its third year of operation. On top of that, total wagers also peaked at $82.7 billion for the 2024-2025 year.
The numbers, released by the market oversight body iGaming Ontario, represent increases of 31% and 32%, respectively, compared to the previous year.
Casino games, including slots, table games, and peer-to-peer bingo, accounted for most of the market, producing $69.6 billion in wagers and $2.4 billion in revenue. Ontario sports betting, which includes sports, esports, and novelty bets, reached $11.4 billion in wagers and $724 million in revenue. At the same time, peer-to-peer poker remained at a similar level to the previous year.
“These results show Ontario is home to a truly dynamic igaming market with a strong roster of operators, and a world-class list of games available for players,” said Heidi Reinhart, Chair of the Board of Directors. “With 49 operators offering 84 gaming sites, Ontario’s regulated market continues to grow by offering a safer environment for Ontarians to play.”
