Two teams heading in opposite directions open a series in Cincinnati, and we're diving in with our Yankees vs Reds prediction. The Yankees have been bouncing back after a six-game losing streak, while the Reds have dropped three of their last four.

Our MLB odds show the Yankees entering tonight's contest as the -120 favorite. First pitch is slated for 7:10 p.m. ET from Great American Ball Park (YES, FanDuel Sports Network).

My Yankees vs Reds best bet: Nick Lodolo Under 5.5 strikeouts (-134 via FanDuel)

Reds starter Nick Lodolo has put together a quality season, one that could very well continue along just fine after tonight. But like so many before him and many more to come, he's not positioned well for success against the Yankees, and especially not through punchouts.

The southpaw will be facing a Yankees lineup that's posted the second-best OPS leaguewide against lefties (.809), and clubbed the second-most homers (32). That's a less-than-ideal situation for a pitcher who's been relying on inducing weak contact through his changeup.

Lodolo is just one start removed from the Cleveland Guardians pummeling him for six earned runs across only 3 1/3 innings. His K/9 has also dropped significantly, sitting at 7.8 this season after he finished last year averaging 9.5.

We're getting notable value with this -134 price from FanDuel for one of our MLB picks, as several of our other best MLB betting sites are offering around -150, with Caesars at -154. It can be played down to about -155, and it's especially appealing with projections listing Lodolo at 4.84 strikeouts.

Goldschmidt annihilates lefties, and he's posting a 1.251 OPS against them as opposed to a .638 when facing a righty.

With Goldschmidt perhaps leading the way, the Yankees' offense will do its part to cash the Over on a high total against Lodolo, and our Andrew Brennan thinks Aaron Judge will be a factor as well in his best home run predictions today.

New York's pitching will do some lifting in that regard, too. Ryan Yarborough hit the IL, so Allan Winans will make his first start of the season for the Yankees, and just the ninth of his career in the big leagues. He comes in with a 7.20 career ERA.
